Purpose

xdv-xdvfs-utils is an independent utility workspace for the XDV filesystem stack.

It provides DPL-native workflows equivalent to common industry storage tools:

• Partitioning (fdisk/parted style)
• Formatting (mkfs style)
• Integrity checking (fsck style)
• Device/probe reporting (blkid/lsblk style)
• Directory management (mkdir/rmdir/ls/tree style)
• File management (text + binary read/write/copy/move/delete style)
• Mount lifecycle operations (mount/umount/remount/sync style)
• Capacity and I/O statistics (df/du/stat/iostat style)
• Permission and ownership metadata operations (chmod/chown/chgrp/umask style)

Runtime Contract

The partition, mkfs, fsck, and probe modules are implemented as full workflow pipelines:

• partition: table create/verify, 64MB boot partition layout, bootable flag, inventory validation
• mkfs: partition preflight, xdvfs format pipeline, post-format verification
• fsck: partition + superblock + required-path contract validation, safe/aggressive repair modes
• probe: block-device, partition, superblock, and xdvfs layout contract probing

Each utility entrypoint returns normalized UInt32 status codes so shell/runtime command dispatch can consistently treat 0 as success and non-zero as structured failure.

The e2e suite executes the utility pipeline contract:

1. partition (fdisk_create_*, bootable verification)
2. format (mkfs_xdvfs)
3. integrity (fsck_read_only / repair semantics)
4. probe (blkid, lsblk, probe_all)
5. CLI disk-image flow (run(...) for probe/partition/mkfs/fsck/mount/space)
