👋 Hi, I'm Vishnu Sharma — aka thecodekaizen

Continuous improvement through code, curiosity, and creation.

I'm a Senior Software Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, indie builder, and lifelong learner interested in understanding how things work, building things that matter, and documenting what I learn along the way.

Most of my work sits somewhere between backend engineering, distributed systems, AI engineering, developer tooling, startups, and product engineering.

Outside of code, I'm equally curious about movement, sports, philosophy, physics, creativity, and becoming a better generalist.

Welcome to my corner of the internet 👾

🚀 What I Do

💻 Senior Software Engineer / FDE

Currently working as a Forward Deployed Engineer, where engineering goes beyond writing code.

My work involves:

  • Building and debugging production systems
  • Working closely with customers and engineering teams
  • Designing AI-powered workflows and agents
  • Improving AI observability and evaluation pipelines
  • Optimizing LLM orchestration and inference costs
  • Solving problems across unfamiliar customer environments
  • Taking systems from requirements → production → iteration

My background is primarily in backend and distributed systems, with 4+ years of experience building production software.

I've worked extensively with:

Elixir · Go · Java · Python · PostgreSQL · Redis · RabbitMQ · GCP · Kubernetes

🧩 Builder Outside the Job

I like turning curiosity into projects.

My build-in-public playground.

The idea is simple:

Build → Break → Learn → Repeat

I experiment with:

  • AI agents
  • Developer tools
  • Micro-SaaS
  • Browser experiments
  • AR/VR
  • Robotics
  • Automation
  • Weird internet ideas
  • Weekend MVPs

Some projects stay experiments.

Some become products.

And occasionally, one might become a company.

A reminder that life shouldn't revolve entirely around a laptop.

I document my experiments with:

  • Running
  • Swimming
  • Calisthenics
  • Tennis
  • Cycling
  • Movement
  • Books
  • Philosophy
  • Photography
  • Music
  • Creativity
  • Learning new skills

Think of it as my public journal for everything that happens outside the code.

🧬 Society of Polymaths

An experiment around multidisciplinary curiosity.

Technology is fascinating.

But so are:

physics, mathematics, history, philosophy, psychology, art, economics, biology, astronomy, movement, and culture.

The goal is to create a community for people who refuse to fit neatly inside one box.

🎯 Currently Exploring

My current learning graph looks something like this:

                    └── Human Performance

Right now I'm particularly interested in:

  • 🤖 AI Engineering: agents, RAG, evals, orchestration, reasoning systems
  • 🏗️ System Design: distributed systems, databases, messaging, scalability
  • 🐹 Golang for backend and infrastructure
  • 🧠 Understanding how modern AI systems actually work
  • 🥽 AR/VR and spatial computing
  • 🤖 Robotics and intelligent systems
  • 🧮 Mathematics and physics foundations
  • 🚀 Indie hacking and product building

🛠️ Tech I Work With

Languages

Elixir Go Java Python JavaScript TypeScript Dart

Also experimenting with:

Rust

Backend & Web

Phoenix Node.js Next.js React Flutter

Data

PostgreSQL Redis ClickHouse MongoDB

Infrastructure

Docker Kubernetes GCP ArgoCD GitLab CI/CD Terraform

Messaging & Distributed Systems

RabbitMQ WebSockets REST GraphQL

AI Engineering

🔬 Things I Like Building

Some problems I find particularly interesting:

🤖 AI Systems

Agents that can reason, retrieve information, use tools, evaluate their own outputs, and interact with real software systems.

⚙️ Distributed Systems

Queues, caching, retries, consistency, databases, observability, scalability, and the hundreds of tiny decisions hidden behind reliable software.

🧰 Developer Tools

Anything that makes engineers faster or gives them better visibility into complex systems.

🚀 Internet Businesses

Small products solving annoyingly specific problems.

🥽 Experimental Technology

AR/VR, spatial computing, robotics, computer vision, and ideas that currently sound slightly ridiculous.

Those are usually the fun ones.

📚 Writing

I write about things I'm learning, building, and occasionally getting wrong.

Some of my writing:

I also write about:

  • AI engineering
  • System design
  • Indie hacking
  • Engineering careers
  • Forward deployed engineering
  • Startups
  • Learning
  • Technology

You can find more on Medium.

🏆 A Few Milestones

  • 🏅 Smart India Hackathon 2020 Winner
  • 💻 4+ years building production software
  • 🏗️ Worked on backend systems used at meaningful production scale
  • 🤖 Building AI-powered engineering systems and workflows
  • 🧑‍🏫 Mentored developers and contributed to open-source projects
  • 🚀 Constantly shipping side projects, experiments, and occasionally questionable weekend ideas

🌍 Beyond Engineering

I don't want my GitHub contribution graph to be the only graph going up.

So outside engineering, you'll probably find me:

🏃 Running
🏊 Swimming
🎾 Playing tennis
🚴 Cycling
💪 Training calisthenics
📚 Reading
🎸 Learning music
📷 Taking photos
✍️ Writing
🧠 Falling into another completely unnecessary rabbit hole

I think being good at engineering and being curious about the rest of the world are complementary, not competing goals.

🧭 The Philosophy

I don't really believe in reaching a point where you're done learning.

Software changes.

Technology changes.

Careers change.

People change.

So the goal isn't perfection.

It's Kaizen:

Learn something.
Build something.
Break something.
Understand it better.
Repeat.

One percent better, one experiment at a time.

⚡ Probably building something I absolutely did not need to start.
