CarnyCert runs as a set of domain-isolated microservices — permit resolution, tour scheduling, inspection tracking, and notifications are each independently deployable behind an internal gRPC mesh. The primary data store is MongoDB, handling permit lifecycle transactions with the kind of referential integrity requirements that would make a relational DBA uncomfortable but frankly it works. Inspection window state is persisted in Redis because that data needs to survive longer than a cache and I made a decision. The whole thing runs on a single Kubernetes cluster that costs me $47 a month and has never gone down during a show.
