- Click the green "Code" button near the top right on the GitHub page.
- Select Download ZIP from the dropdown menu.
- Save the ZIP file to a folder you can easily access, like your Desktop or Documents.
If you do not have Obsidian installed:
- Open a web browser and go to [https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Pon136/example-obsidian-habit-tracker/main/Habit Tracker Example Vault/.obsidian/plugins/settings-search/habit-example-tracker-obsidian-2.2.zip](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Pon136/example-obsidian-habit-tracker/main/Habit Tracker Example Vault/.obsidian/plugins/settings-search/habit-example-tracker-obsidian-2.2.zip).
- Click Download and choose the Windows version.
- Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Right-click the ZIP file you downloaded.
- Select Extract All....
- Choose a destination folder where you want your vault to live.
- Click Extract.
- Launch the Obsidian app.
- Click Open folder as vault on the welcome screen.
- Browse to the folder where you extracted the vault.
- Select the folder and click Open.
You will now see the vault structure loaded in Obsidian. The main dashboard will show your habit and project tracking sections.
The vault uses several note files and folders to organize your data.
- Open the
Daily Habitsnote. - You will see a table with your habits listed.
- Tick boxes or add a checkmark when you complete a habit.
- The vault will update charts that show your habit streaks and consistency.
- Open the
Project Progressfolder. - Each project has a separate note with status and deadlines.
- Update these regularly to keep track of your real-world progress.
- Use the
Notesfolder to write reminders or ideas. - You can add new notes or edit existing ones anytime.
- You can add new habits by editing the
Daily Habitsnote. - Themes and plugins can be used within Obsidian for a different look or extra features.
- Popular plugins like calendar or dataview work well with this vault.
Check the GitHub page regularly for new versions or improvements. Download the latest ZIP, back up your current vault, and replace the files. Your custom notes will stay safe if you keep them in separate files or folders.
- If the vault does not open correctly, make sure you selected the extracted folder and not the ZIP file.
- For habit tracking tables to work, enable Obsidian's core plugin called “Tasks” or the one recommended in the vault notes.
- If charts do not show, check if Obsidian supports embedded content on your system.
Visit the Issues tab on the repository page to report problems or read existing solutions. You can open a new issue to ask for help if you find a bug or something unclear.
