In my own workflows I find it convenient to have some secrets be stored persistently in $HOME. Security-wise this is basically the same as typical workflows (i.e., having a SSH private key on disk). It is primarily useful on MacOS where the path of the secret directory $DARWIN_USER_TEMP_DIR is set at runtime and unstable (I assume but struggle to find documentation about).
