1. Render Free Tier Limitations

Cold Start Issue

  • Problem: The backend hosted on Render's free tier takes 50+ seconds to start after periods of inactivity
  • Impact: First request after ~15 minutes of inactivity will be very slow
  • User Experience: Users may experience timeout or long loading on first visit

Production Deployment Explanation

The application is deployed using free-tier services to demonstrate functionality without incurring costs:

  • Backend (Render Free): Functional but with cold start delays
  • Frontend (Vercel Free): Excellent performance, no limitations
  • Database (MongoDB Atlas Free): 512MB storage, sufficient for demo
  • File Storage (Cloudinary Free): Reliable PDF storage with CDN

For production use, upgrading to paid tiers is strongly recommended to eliminate these limitations and provide optimal user experience.
