NB if you do decide to merge, increment the version number in DESCRIPTION first (cf. master), just prior to merging

Great, thanks @derrynlovett - the only issue with merging PRs simultaneously is in conflict resolution, and in incrementing the version number. Ahmad and I just merged #217, and used version 0.0.0.9042 - so if you do this merge in the near future you should increment to 0.0.0.9043. I don't think you should get any conflicts.
