Opening a link under a Space routing rule then closing the tab it opened makes the browser unusable #14171

Description

Preliminary Checks

  • I have read and understood the important section above.
  • I have searched existing issues and avoided creating duplicates.
  • I am not filing an enhancement request.
  • I have checked that this issue cannot be reproduced on Mozilla Firefox.
  • I have checked that this issue can be reproduced once I removed all my Mods and Custom CSS.

What happened?

I open a link from another app (in this example reddit link) which I specified with space routing rules to open in a different work space than the one I'm currently operating in
If I close this tab I notice that the url still says "reddit.com" and the whole browser becomes so sluggish and don't open any tabs or do anything unless I close it and open it again
I notice that this doesn't happen if I changed to another tab before I close the one I just opened (it's like the browser doesn't know which tab should it go back to when this one closes)

Expected behavior

It should let me close the tab and goes back to another one or to the original workspace

Actual behavior

It becomes unusable

Steps to reproduce

I open a tab in workspace A
click on a link from another program that is supposed to open in workspace B
Don't switch from this tab and close it
The browser becomes unusable
