I made a GraKeL fork

Not sure if this is the right place for this, feel free to close it if not.

I heavily use GraKeL for my research. It helps me to benchmark our own graph kernels against classical and well known Graph kernels. Wanted to say that first.

I saw the repo mentions needing help with maintenance. Deps getting old, issues piling up, normal stuff for a project like this. So I started GrakelX to handle some of that: dependency updates, bug fixes, a few small features I needed and I found helpful.

I went with a fresh start because I want to respect the original authors’ choices and philosophy while steering GraKelX in the direction I envisioned.

Couple things I want to be mention:

• Same license, BSD 3-clause. Didn't touch that. Every original file keeps its copyright notice, and the README credits the original authors and the JMLR paper directly. Not planning to change that either.

• Not trying to rename-and-run with this. There's a note in the docs pointing back here as the source, so nobody gets confused about where it came from.

• If anyone here wants to PR into GrakelX, go for it. And if I build something worth having upstream, I'll send it back here too.

Hi @SneachChea, that's wonderful to hear! Indeed grakel is getting old and I'm so grateful that my first academic endeavor became a tool that so many researchers find useful, in ways that I didn't anticipate when I was developing it at Dascim lab in Ecole Polytechnique under the great supervision of @giannisnik.

Instead of gravitating the community towards a new repo/library, I'm happy to discuss with you whether you want to be a main contributor of a new version of this project, if you plan to restructure the library in a way that respects unit tests and is on par or better in performance. If interested feel free to reach out to our academic emails (see

P.S. I'm planning to spend some tokens in the summer to bring the library again to an updated state and push a new release, but if you are willing to take the lead on that and propose more changes, we would be more than grateful!

I’ve already used a few tokens on GraKelX, so I think we’re on the same page about certain issues that could be problematic, such as the use of AI.
