There is a large user base of LXD & Incus VM/Container users (Incus was forked from LXD 3 yrs ago)..
Neither Incus or Canonical's LXD utilize libvirt but manage VMs using QEMU directly.
The Incus project consists of many of the original LXD dev team including
the current Incus Project lead Stephen Graber.
Both LXD & Incus, manage KVM-based "system" VMs.
Last year, Incus also introduced support last for OCI "application" containers such as Docker.
I've been primarily using Incus but have Windows (11 Pro & 10 Ult) VMs running under both LXD & Incus
For several years now I've been using Kimm Knight's RemoteAppTool on the Windows VMs to enable my Ubuntu machines to run Window's Apps as "remoteapps" with xfreerdp3.
On the LXD/Incus "Host" Desktop, I use xfreerdp3 to login & launch any of the Windows remoteapps so they
appear back on the Ubuntu Host looking like any other linux app.
So give the above and looking at the WinApps docs, the 4 currently supported VM Install environments are:
Could it be possible to add both LXD and Incus to WinApps supported Install environments?
Since both LXD & Incus use KVM for VMs, maybe coding changes might be minimized to add 2 new VM/Container User Communities to WinApps?
