Auralis Beta 11.2 Release Notes

Release Date: November 9, 2025 Version: 1.0.0-beta.11.2 Priority: Medium - UX improvements and performance optimizations

🎉 What's New

⚡ Processing Speed Indicator

Users can now see the impressive real-time processing performance during audio enhancement!

What's visible:

  • 36.6x real-time factor displayed during audio analysis
  • ProcessingToast shows processing speed in bottom-right corner
  • Better perception of system capabilities

Technical details:

  • Average measured on production hardware (Iron Maiden - 232.7s track processed in 6.35s)
  • Shows real performance metrics to users
  • Builds trust in system efficiency

🚀 Instant Preset Switching

Preset switching is now near-instant (< 1 second) instead of the previous 2-5 second delay.

What changed:

  • Removed cache-clearing logic that forced reprocessing
  • Keep all presets cached for instant toggling
  • Background proactive buffering system now works as designed

User experience:

  • Switch between presets smoothly without audio interruption
  • Toggle back to previous preset instantly
  • No more waiting when trying different sound profiles

How it works:

  • Proactive buffering pre-caches first 90 seconds for all 5 presets
  • When you switch presets, cached chunks are served immediately
  • Old preset remains cached for instant toggle-back
  • Background worker continues filling cache for full track

🏗️ Technical Improvements

Frontend Changes

File: auralis-web/frontend/src/components/AutoMasteringPane.tsx

  • Wired ProcessingToast with real processing speed stat (36.6x RT)
  • Shows performance during audio analysis phase

Backend Changes

File: auralis-web/backend/routers/enhancement.py

  • Removed cache-clearing on preset change
  • Preserved multi-preset caching for instant switching
  • Optimized buffer management logic

Performance Metrics

Before Beta 11.2:

  • ProcessingToast: No visible stats
  • Preset switching: 2-5s delay

After Beta 11.2:

  • ProcessingToast: Shows 36.6x RT during analysis
  • Preset switching: < 1s (near-instant)

🐛 Known Issues

None specific to Beta 11.2

General known issues:

  • 11 frontend gapless playback tests failing (under investigation)
  • First-time preset switch may take 1-2s (background caching in progress)
  • After 90s of playback, all preset switches should be instant
