How can I style these

Hi, I can't work out how to change the following:

• The background colour of the bit I've marked with a cyan line
• The icon colours, especially the ones marked with green arrows
• The text colour up top, marked with yellow arrows
• I'd also like to remove the 3d gradient effect on tabs, table headers, scroll bars, icon mouseover etc.

I'm on Win10 if that matters.

ok, I've found the menu bar text and header text at least and scrollbars.

ok mostly got it now, just need to know how to change the icon colours?

@blackwaterpark22 Thanks. Breeze dark sets the icons as full white which it too bright for me.

Weirdly some icons are hooked up to one of the variables, as can be seen here in cyan, however it's same same variable that colours the menu bar and the status bar at the bottom and since the status bar has icons on it, one at least of those icons becomes completely invisible.

Maybe I should open a bug for this, as things really need separating out better to be usable.

So it seems with Breeze Dark, the variable on changes the tint of the icons, while with Breeze it directly set the color, however either way, not all icons are set to the desired colour, most just ignore the colour setting. Also as you can see the same variable for the icon colour also sets the tooltip background colour.

So you have a variable called Window that sets some icon colours, the menubar background colour, the status bar background colour and the tooltip background colour. I should be able to override the tooltip bg colour in the qss to fix that, but still I'd like to be able to set all the icons to my preferred colour.

You cannot set colors to icons, those are SVG icons and the color is probably somehow applied to disabled buttons. Rss guard does not do this by itself.

It would still be nice to be able to set icon colours or provide custom icon set. I think in theory if the button were given names via setObjectName then the icons could be swapped out individually via qss, as I did here using QToolButton {qproperty-icon: url(D:/user/downloads/icons8-external-link.svg)}, but obviously I couldn't target specific buttons to assign specific svgs due to lack of names.

Simply being able to change current icon colours would be best imo. It already works for disabled button icons, but not enabled one or status bar icons, so seems like it probably wouldn't take too much work.

You can import any XDG-compliant icon theme, for example Numix, Faenza, Arc and many others.

Download the theme.
Unpack it into /icons/

Restart RSS Guard and select new theme from settings, restart again, done.

Thanks. I tried downloading other icon packs, but they all seemed to be set up weirdly and contained symbolic links that 7z didn't want to apply on windows, so instead I downloaded the icon pack from your repo, filtered out the unused icons and edited the colours in those.

and here is a zip of an already set up icon pack with just the used icons. Extract the icons folder directly to your rssguard folder, unless you already have one in which case extract the next folder down into that.

Note: the theme name shown in rss guard is based on the folder name, not the theme name as specified in the index.theme file.

Looking much better :) although now I know I only need these few icons, I might try pulling them from some other packs to see what I else I like.

Yes almost all icon packs contain like links, symbolic links, etc.

I have a script to "prepare" icon pack.

Simply copy your icon themes to the directory, edit top of the script and run it from rssguard root repo folder.

So I ran into one blocking issue, being the reuse of the same icon (as shown in the first image) meaning I can't replace them individually with more fitting icons as shown in the mock up.

Also you see the issue i'm having with colour as in the mock up it's very clear which icons are disabled (dark grey), while I can't achieve this currently via QSS or the xml file colours, the disabled icons look near enough as bright as the enabled ones.

Also It would also be nice if the count would only show on the deepest visible node, rather than being repeated on all the nodes from root down. So in the above, if the root folder was closed it would just show 1 opposite it and if it was open 3 deep as in the screenshot it would only show 1 opposite the youtube entry instead of on all 3 levels.
