Bamboo 10.x plugin available in Atlassian Marketplace

Is there an ETA to have the plugin that is compatible with Bamboo 10.x available in the Atlassian Marketplace?

I see that there is a 1.0.6 release for 10.x compatibility:

But I don't see it on the Atlassian Marketplace, only 1.0.5:

Good news is that we have already started supporting Bamboo 10.x but unfortunately not able to update the Atlassian marketplace due to some admin login credential related issue with Atlassian. Our IT team is following up with them to get that resolved asap so may need few days to get that resolved. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick response @shuvadipc. While your team works on the Atlassian Marketplace update we were thinking about trying to build the JAR ourselves. Any reason we shouldn't do that or do you have any instructions we could use to do that?

You can download the JAR file from here .

You can then add this JAR file to /bamboo-home/plugins as per Bamboo's guidelines for adding plugins, or you can manually upload this JAR file via Bamboo's UI page.

@agrasth - I checked the releases page you mentioned, but there seems to be only source code in a .zip and a .tar.gz. Where would I find the JAR file?

You are right, the release page only contains the source code in a .zip and .tar.gz format. My apologies for the oversight.

To get the JAR file, you can use the latest code from the releases page to build the project. Here's how:

Download the source code from the release page here .
Navigate to the directory where you have downloaded the source code.
Run the following command to build the project:
mvn clean install -U -DskipTests

This will create a folder named target, and you can find the JAR file named bamboo-jfrog-plugin-1.0.6.jar inside it.

You can then add this JAR file to /bamboo-home/plugins as per Bamboo's guidelines for adding plugins, or manually upload this JAR file via Bamboo's UI page.

I was able to build the JAR, but when we uploaded it through Bamboo's UI page it failed and generated the logs below.

I ran tools jar tf <filename> and unzip -t <filename>, both displayed the contents. However, when I renamed the JAR with a .zip extension and tried to unzip it on my Mac it failed. I tried the same thing with other offical JARs from the Atliassian Marketplace and they allowed me to unzip them.

Could it be some flag I'm not using or something?

We tried reproducing the issue on our end and were successfully able to install and use the plugin on Bamboo 10.x. Here are the steps we followed for clarity:

✅ Bamboo Installation Steps (on RHEL 8)

1. Spun up a GCP VM with RHEL 8.

2. Installed JDK 21 Or 17.

3. Followed this official guide to set up Bamboo.

4. Downloaded Bamboo 10.x tar.gz from Atlassian’s archive.

5. Created a separate home directory at:
   /var/bamboo/bamboo-home

6. Extracted the tar.gz contents.

7. Navigated to the extracted folder and ran:
   ./bin/start-bamboo.sh

8. Bamboo server started successfully.
   However, the plugin upload option was missing in the UI – this is expected from Bamboo 9.5+.
   To enable plugin uploads, we edited the setenv.sh file and added the following JVM argument:

   JVM_SUPPORT_RECOMMENDED_ARGS="-Dupm.plugin.upload.enabled=true"

9. Restarted Bamboo. The plugin upload option appeared in the UI.

✅ Plugin Installation Steps

1. Cloned/downloaded the source code from the GitHub release page.

2. Ran the following command to build the JAR file:

   mvn clean install -U -DskipTests

3. Located the JAR file at:
   target/bamboo-jfrog-plugin-1.0.6.jar

4. Uploaded this JAR via the Bamboo UI (now enabled), or you can directly place the jar file at bamboo-home/pluigns.

5. The plugin was installed successfully and appeared in the list.

6. Configured a build plan to download artifacts using JFrog CLI – everything worked as expected.

🔁 Clarification on JAR File Use

Once you build the JAR file using the above steps, you can directly use it as-is.
There's no need to unzip it or convert it – just upload the JAR via the UI or place it under /bamboo-home/plugins.

Thanks for sharing those steps. I'll give those steps a shot to see if I can make the issue happen locally with a fresh Bamboo install.

Here's an interesting tidbit. We have Bamboo 10.2.3 running on a Linux operating system. I was able to build 1.0.5 and upload it successfully to Bamboo 10.2.3. While that version of the plugin will not run on Bamboo 10.x, it does not present an error when I upload it and the plugin shows correctly in the list of plugins. However, when I build 1.0.6, it generates the errors I mentioned previously. It also shows an error message in the GUI that loooks like this...

I was able to resolve the issue. When generating the JAR using Maven, it was producing in a format that was different than the other JARs. When I ran the file command on the custom built JAR it showed the Java Archive Data (JAR) format. However, running file on the other plugins showed Zip archive data, at least v1.0 to extract.

The solution for me was to extract the JAR and then use zip to create a new version that was in the Zip archive data, at least v1.0 to extract format. There's probably a faster way, but that was my solution.
