Recent changes to code signing requirements have made them prohibitively expensive. The cheapest OV cert I've seen in $219/year for 3 years ($657) and EV cert for $285/year for 3 years ($855). Both are plus $90 for a hardware token. There may be cheaper alternatives but I doubt by much.
