On how recombination is modelled/simulated in AlphaSimR

In #32 (comment), @Leobhering is asking about recombination:

I tried to find the function that produces gametes in AlphaSimR. I know it should use the distance between genes and move along the chromosomes. But where is it described? Does it consider any interference rate between genes? Thank you.

We have open issues to document recombination side of things (see below) and if you read through these issues you will gather all the information you are after - as to documenting this properly, any help would be welcome!;)
