How can I create a role with a md5 encrypted password?

I have an old client that is not capable of SCRAM and need to create an MD5 encrypted password.

According to https://www.postgresql.org/docs/current/sql-createrole.html, an already encrypted password will be stored as-is. So I assume just pre-encrypting to md5 should work.
