I updoot this. Where the heck is the REAL back-end stuff? Teach systems languages. Teach Rust, D-lang, and Julia. Avoid C, C++ because they're too fragmented and crufty.

I thought Julia was specifically intended for scientific computation? How has that anything to do with backend?

What the hell do you mean C and C++ are "fragmented and crufty"? C is what runs basically all OS'es, and has one of the most inspirational syntaxes and simple engines, and C++ invented the idea of RAII, "Zero-Overhead", and name mangling.
