From the discussion in #61 it seems that it might be possible that the downloading of the pseudo archive finishes without error but the archive actually isn't complete, causing the subsequent unpacking to fail. Regardless whether the archive is corrupt, it would be good to compare the md5 checksum of the downloaded archive with what is expected, if that is available.
