Thank you for yet another update. I wanted to point out that when you navigate to https://github.com/Xanashi/Icaros/releases it doesn't always put the newest version at top if a stable release was pushed out after a beta. With this new 3.3.5 version it's at the top though. This could potentially lead people to downloading an older release unintentionally sometimes. Something to be mindful of. |

Glad you're back and we've still been running been running happily the same version till now. Hopefully you can bring JXL to windows 10 without MS JXL extension which only supports win11 24h2+ i think. A question I have for you....Icaros enables thumbnailing of AVIF photos right? Which I have enabled....But it generates avif thumbs slow. you might not remember the last time we talked about JXL being slow to thumb but I found out the culprit. Its 12th gen+ cpu with AVX-512 instruction missing that leads to extremely slow down thumbnailing. For eg. JXL-winthumb 0.1.19 works great and thumbnails almost as fast as normal jpegs but doesn't support large files and freezes explorer.exe I don't know much about these stuffs but I'm just implying may be its similar issue with avif! |

Hi Everyone,
There were a an issue with build 3.3.4, where IcarosConfig were crashing on startup on Windows 8.1 and below.
This build should fix that, and also contain a couple more fixes I got in yesterday (see changelog).
I'll keep the info from the 3.3.4 release post below here.
It's been a while!
I'm so sorry I haven't been more been more around this past year.
There has been a severe lack of releases and of support, and I apologize for that.
Last year I was put in charge of a large part of a project, and all the spare time I usually
spend on Icaros, was put into this project. I should hopefully be done soon with most of
the work on this other project and I definitely intend to get back to Icaros as soon as possible.
In the meantime, I've decided to open up Icaros to a few developers that I know and trust,
and they will be given full access to the source and the rights to post new releases here.
I will still fully manage the project, and work on it myself as well, however this should
hopefully provide more frequent releases to you all.
And as always, Thank you all so incredibly much for donating, translating, writing feedback,
providing bug reports, and contributing to make Icaros better with every release. ❤️
And for full transparency here is the total donation amount in 2025:
$479
Thank you all so much! ❤️
(Also don't worry, if you've posted an issue or discussion on here, I will get back to
you at some point)
I hope you all enjoy the new albeit small release this time!
