You're right — currently the "Test Connection" button only validates text-generation provider configurations. Image generation support was added in v0.1.4 (AI image generation with lazy-load), but the connection test UI wasn't extended to cover image providers yet.

Relevant code:

• The existing test-connection logic for text providers lives in the provider configuration UI (likely in packages/providers/ or apps/desktop/src/main/). Look for functions that call the provider's API with a simple prompt and check the response.
• Image providers are handled separately — check packages/providers for image-specific configuration and the gen_image tool (referenced in AGENTS.md).

History check: I didn't find another issue or PR specifically for image provider test connection. This seems to be a new gap.

Need more info:

• Which image provider(s) are you testing (e.g., OpenAI DALL-E, Replicate, local models)? The test implementation may vary per provider.
• What version of the app are you using? (Your issue was filed against main — just confirming you're on a recent release or build?)
• Do you have any example of what the test connection should validate for image providers? (e.g., generate a small image, check API key validity, return model list?)

This is a great enhancement request — adding a test-connection button for image providers would mirror the existing text-provider UI and make debugging much easier. I'd recommend starting by modeling it after the text provider test flow in packages/providers. If you'd like to contribute, a PR would be welcome! 🚀
