[Feature] How to enable KaTeX mhchem extension in crepe/latex plugin?

Problem

I would like to ask how to properly enable the mhchem extension in the crepe/latex plugin.

I tried importing it directly with:

import 'katex/dist/contrib/mhchem'

but it does not seem to work.

Is there an official way to register or enable the mhchem extension for KaTeX inside the plugin?

Solution

I want formulas like \ce{H2O} to render correctly.
