Brief summary
Hardware: NovaCustom V560TU with Integrated Intel Arc Graphics (not discrete GPU)
Firmware: Dasharo 1.0.1
Operating Systems: Dual boot Windows 11 / Manjaro Linux
Description:
The system fails to wake the display upon opening the lid after entering a sleep state. While the keyboard backlight activates correctly upon lid open, the screen remains black. Input from the keyboard does not trigger a wake event, necessitating a hard power cycle to restore functionality.
Observations:
The issue persists across both Windows 11 and Manjaro Linux, suggesting a firmware-level failure rather than an OS-specific driver issue.
Updating to firmware version 1.0.1 did not resolve the behavior.
The issue began appearing recently; it was not present in previous iterations of system use.
There is a significant and noticeable decline in system performance on Windows 11 that emerged specifically after the upgrade to firmware version 1.0.1.
Additional Technical Notes:
SMM BIOS Write Protection is enabled in the UEFI settings.
There is a concurrent, potentially related issue regarding the "SPI BIOS descriptor" that persists despite the aforementioned write protection settings.
How reproducible
No response
How to reproduce
Steps to Reproduce:
Close the laptop lid, putting the system into sleep/suspend state.
Open the lid to wake the system.
Observe that the keyboard backlight illuminates but the display remains black and unresponsive to input requiring hard power cycle to regain use of machine.
Expected behavior
Screen should wake on lid open.
Windows 11 performance should not be degraded.
Actual behavior
Screen does not wake on lid open.
Windows 11 performance is severely degraded. (Linux is fine).
Screenshots
Additional context
After I hard power cycled the machine one of the many times I got a message at boot time saying something had failed and that I should try again with the AC adapter plugged in but I haven't seen it again since then that was like 10 reboots ago I also rebooted with the AC adapter plugged in nothing changed. I asked AI it said that may have had something to do with corrupting the SPI descriptor? Not sure if that helps.
Solutions you've tried
Tried upgrading firmware from 1.0 to 1.01, tried installing intel microcode on linux, Manjaro and Windows 11 systems have both been fully updated via software update.
